Better Coverage with Multi-Network SIMs

Whilst you may decide to use it as your Primary SIM, please note that Multi-Network SIMs do not support features like Voicemail and WiFi Calling. Additionally calls/SMS to Shortcodes, Premium rate numbers, Special Numbers (NHS 111) are not available. Even calls to free phone numbers (eg. 0800) would be deducted from your bundle allowance as your SIM is technically Roaming within the UK.

The best way to improve your coverage is to have 2 active lines on your phone with automatic failover switching enabled, meaning if you have an O2 Primary SIM, when it doesn’t have any signal or 4G/5G Data connection, FlexiFone eSIM comes into fill in the gap in coverage.

You may setup conditional forwarding from your Primary SIM to FlexiFone eSIM if that is unreachable, so you don’t miss any calls!

Most latest and high-end devices are compatible with our Multi-Network SIMs (iOS, Android, WiFi Routers). Users on Apple, Samsung Galaxy S series and Pixel phones have had the best experience using our SIMs.

Please Note: On a very few number of devices (<5% of the market), Availability of features such as 5G and VoLTE may vary by device.

• Google Pixel Series: No 5G and VoLTE because of sophisticated “Carrier Profile” requirements. If you are using Google Pixel, please use FlexiFone as a Data-Only Secondary SIM to improve coverage and only 4G Data and 2G/3G Calls will be supported.
• eSIM-to-Physical SIM Conversion Kits (5ber, 9esim etc.): We do not provide any official support for these grey market esim-to-physical-SIM conversion kits and please order a FlexiFone Physical-SIM instead. Many users often have reported issues with using our eSIMs with these sort of conversion kits.
• Motorola: 
  No support for VoLTE on dual SIM mode. Please use FlexiFone as a Data-Only Secondary SIM to improve coverage on these devices.

  We recommend ordering a Physical-SIM for Motorola devices as they do not work well with eSIMs.

• Other ‘budget’ Chinese Devices: We have seen a few instances where APN cannot be configured correctly on these devices and customers have to go though a lot of troubleshooting just to use their Mobile Data. Hence, if you have the technical expertise only then purchase our eSIMs, as we would be unable to provide any support or advice for anything other than Apple/Samsung devices.
  Some of these lower-end Android devices do not support all network bands whilst Roaming and hence you may not be able to connect to all four UK networks.
• Sony Xperia: 
  Our eSIMs are not compatible with Xperia devices, please order a Physical SIM instead.

Some lower-end ‘budget’ smartphones (under £300) from Motorola, Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi, etc. would not provide you with functionalities like seamless network switching and access to all network bands in the UK which would mean that your experience using FlexiFone or any other Multi-Network SIM may not be as great as someone using it on Apple/Samsung S series/Pixel devices.

Using FlexiFone on these older ‘budget’ Android phones is like putting the most expensive Performance Fuel in an old banger. Instead, get a refurbished flagship device like the Samsung S23 or iPhone 13 for £200 and you’ll be much happier with your overall experience.

Login to your account, select Manage SIM > Port-In Number. Enter your PAC code and existing mobile number, and the porting will be completed in 10 working days.

It is important to note that FlexiFone’s service is not a local UK service but a Roaming SIM in the UK.  Our Multi-Network SIMs are intended to be used as Secondary/Backup SIM and you must not use them as your as your Primary or ‘Only’ SIM. 

 Voice/SMS service is just an add-on to our Data-Only plans intended for occasional use, and you must not port-in your number with the intention to use it as your primary SIM (where people would regularly call or text you, or where you would regularly make phone calls/SMS on a daily basis).

Please Note: On Multi-Network SIMs, Port-in requests take approximately 10 working days due to multiple operators involved in the process, and your number will be temporary disconnected for approximately 24-48 hours or more in exceptional cases.

For example, if you have a Primary SIM with Vodafone, then on your FlexiFone eSIM you can only allow EE, O2 and Three.

You get Unlimited Incoming and upto 60 outgoing Minutes/SMS in EU/EEA and upto 20 in non-EU/EEA countries listed below to make calls to to the country of travel and back to the UK. Eg. if you travel to France, you can call from France to France and back from France to the UK.

In all other destinations not mentioned above, you can only receive incoming calls and SMS.

Voice/SMS Supported List:

On our latest V2 eSIMs, to move your eSIM to another device, simply delete your eSIM from your old device and install it on your new device using the same QR code sent in the setup email or via the FlexiFone App / MyAccount portal.

Please ensure that you have a strong WiFi connection on both devices prior to performing the SIM swap.

If your device was lost or stolen, please login to your account and contact us directly so that we can issue you a new eSIM. 

If you have an older legacy V1 SIM (purchased before 1st June 2025), you would need to upgrade to the V2 SIM as the V1 SIM is no longer available and existing ones would stop working in within the next few months.

On Personal accounts, our roaming partners restrict usage of Voice/SMS plans on anything other than non-consumer smartphone/tablet due to WiFi tethering devices adding extra load to the network. The IMEI of any tethering device is blocked by the network.

To use your plan on a WiFi router, you can purchase a Data-only plan which are even cheaper (when paid annually).

For business and enterprise customers, we offer a new SIM profile which can be used on any devices with no restrictions.

In the future, Data-Only plans will support more Roaming destinations whereas the Voice/SMS plans will only have limited number of supported countries. Prices of Data-Only plans will remain frozen until atleast 2028-2029 but on Voice/SMS plans price may increase. We will recommend getting a Data-Only plan for most use cases unless you really need Voice/SMS. You cannot change between Data-Only and Voice/SMS plans after purchase as both are different products.

Yes, you may be able to use our SIMs in any device. Some of our customers use the FlexiFone SIM in Intercom systems, CCTV Cameras, Dashcams, WiFi Routers and many more devices.

You would need to manually set the APN to “internet” on these devices as automatic APN only works on iOS and Android devices.

It remains your responsibility to ensure that your device is compatible and has the capability to set an APN. We do not provide any official support with APN settings on these devices and you should directly contact your device manufacturer or check forums online.

Both our eSIMs and Physical-SIMs are different products and you can switch between these, however a processing fee of £10 will be applicable on each SIM swap. The swap takes 3-5 working days to process.

In most cases, we will suggest getting another SIM contract with us and cancel the automatic renewal for your older SIM, as this may be more cost effective depending on the plan you currently have.
