We don’t currently offer an unlimited data SIM. Our data only SIM card plans go up to 100GB a month, and you can top up any time with a data add-on if you need more — all on a SIM that connects to all four UK networks.
Your FlexiFone data only SIM card coverage automatically switches between UK multi networks when your device completely loses signal. You can also switch networks manually via the Mobile Data > Network Selection menu in your settings — the full guide is here.
Please note automatic network switching is device-dependent; we’ve found it works best on Apple devices, followed by newer Androids (Pixels/Samsung).
If you have full signal bars but a slow or no internet connection, you’ll need to manually select another network, as automatic switching won’t kick in.
As this is a multi-network data only SIM that roams across all four UK networks, you can expect reasonable speeds that keep you connected (up to 200Mbps; typically 10–80Mbps in any given location). It’s important to note that coverage and speeds depend on the mobile network operators, not us, so we provide no guarantee of speeds — you may see 100Mbps or even 0.5Mbps depending on the location. Latency will also be higher, since this SIM roams within the UK.
We don’t enforce any speed restrictions or de-prioritise traffic — you can use your full data allowance.
If you want the fastest speeds, we recommend manually switching between networks.
Unless you’re using the SIM for cloud gaming, constant speed tests or streaming ultra-HD 8K video (all of which need low latency and 500Mbps+ speeds), you won’t notice a difference in everyday use.
That said, speeds will still be slower than, say, an EE or O2 Business SIM, because networks always prioritise their own SIMs over roaming SIMs for peak 4G/5G speeds.
Yes — you can use your phone as a hotspot and tether data to other devices, with no restrictions on tethering.
That said, if you regularly tether large amounts of data, a data only SIM is usually the better choice. Our data only SIM plans are more affordable on monthly or annual billing, and the data only SIM card works just as well in a WiFi router, MiFi hotspot or tablet as it does in a phone.
Most of our data only SIM plans are 30-day rolling with no long-term contract, so you can change or cancel any time from the My Account portal on our website or in our iOS app. (Annual plans are a fixed contract — see below.)
If you cancel, your plan stays active until its expiry date. We don’t refund unused data if you cancel mid billing cycle.
Changing your plan cancels the current one (any remaining allowance is lost) and resets your billing date — so if you’ve just run low mid-cycle, buying an add-on is usually better than switching. If you expect to use more data long term, moving to a larger plan makes sense.
Annual plans can’t be changed until the term ends, so pick a plan with a bit more data than you think you’ll need. You can always top up with add-ons, though they cost more per GB than upgrading.
Unlike Honest Mobile’s Smart SIM, a FlexiFone data only SIM lets you access all apps and websites with no restrictions. FlexiFone is slightly more expensive than Honest, but you get extra features:
- Network blocking: block your primary network so your FlexiFone SIM only connects to the other three — unlike some multi-network SIMs that may reconnect to your primary network, which rather defeats the purpose.
- Hotspot / tethering: use your data only SIM to tether to other devices, with no restrictions.
- eSIM & physical SIM: get set up instantly with a data only eSIM, or order a physical SIM.

This is our most frequently asked question, and the short answer is no. Here’s why:
- Our data only SIM plans are already the lowest-priced among all UK multi-network SIMs, so there’s no rollover — instead you get a fresh data allowance every month.
- If you need extra data in a given month, you can top up any time with an add-on rather than banking unused data.
A data only SIM gives you mobile internet — no calls or texts — for tablets, iPads, 4G/5G routers, MiFi hotspots and other devices. A FlexiFone data only SIM connects across all four UK networks (EE, O2, Vodafone and Three) and switches to the strongest signal, so you stay connected wherever you are.

Most modern devices work with our data only SIM — iPhones, Android phones, tablets and 4G/5G WiFi routers. You’ll get the best experience on Apple, Samsung Galaxy S series and Pixel devices.
A few limitations apply to under 5% of devices:
- Google Pixel & Motorola: best used as a data only SIM (4G data); order a physical SIM rather than an eSIM.
- Sony Xperia: not compatible with our data only eSIM — order a physical SIM instead.
- eSIM-to-physical conversion kits (5ber, 9esim, etc.): not supported — order a FlexiFone physical SIM instead.
- Budget or older Android phones (under £300): may not support all UK network bands or seamless switching, so you might not connect to all four networks.
For the best results, use a recent flagship or refurbished device such as an iPhone 13 or Samsung S23.
Visit account.flexifone.co.uk and select Manage SIM > Network Blocking. There you can choose any one of the following:
- EE, O2, Three (Vodafone blocked)
- EE, O2, Vodafone (Three blocked)
- EE, Vodafone, Three (O2 blocked)
- O2, Vodafone, Three (EE blocked)
For example, if your primary SIM is with Vodafone, you can set your FlexiFone data only SIM to allow only EE, O2 and Three.

A note on multi-network switching abroad: it’s intended for the UK. In most EU/EEA countries and the US you’ll get 2–3 networks, but in some countries only one — so please don’t buy this data only SIM solely for use outside the UK/EU. Roaming beyond the UK/EU is for occasional use only, due to local regulations.
Yes — our data only SIM works in most connected devices. Customers use FlexiFone SIMs in intercom systems, CCTV cameras, dashcams, 4G/5G WiFi routers and more.
You’ll need to manually set the APN to “internet” on these devices, as automatic APN setup only works on iOS and Android.
It remains your responsibility to check your device is compatible and can accept an APN. We don’t provide official support for APN settings on IoT/M2M devices — please contact your device manufacturer or check online forums.
